If you have time to contact a fellow member to work for you, that's great., If you can't, please call Marty Haynes 281 422-4223.for assistance. If two staffers are not on site to work, the Art Center will have to be closed for thaat day and, since we advertise the days and times we are open, it's important that we are open for our customers.
Rene’ Palmer Armstrong and Wyvonne Langford will present a pendant wrapping demonstration .
“A friend in beads, is a friend indeed!” This slogan was the brainchild of Wyvonne after reconnecting with her high school classmate, Rene, at their 40 year high school reunion. They discovered they had many things in common, including surviving breast cancer, recent retirement and a yearning to fill their new-found free time with fun artistic endeavors. They decided to take beading and wire wrapping classes in 2010. After making and wearing their creations, they discovered that others thought they were unique and wanted to purchase them. Their hobby became an obsession and Bead Friends was formed to give them an outlet to sell their jewelry.
Wyvonne specializes in “caged” fused dichroic glass. She takes each pendant she has cut and fused, and then cages the pieces by using three separate stands of wire. Each piece is unique based upon the glass, its shape, and finished design. She also specializes in making amazing rings for her customers. She will have a display of her rings, but if a customer finds a ring they like, but one is not available in her size, Wyvonne will custom make a ring which will be a perfect fit.
Rene’ specializes in “wire-wrapped” free form fused dichroic glass. From her created cut and fused pendants, she will take a wire and wrap each piece to form a mini piece of art. The color of the glass she uses is ever changing based upon the light and each piece is unique.
Wyvonne and Rene’ will be explaining our processes and making a few pieces so that you will understand their process. They will share some of their tips and tricks to making unique glass pendants. Wyvonne will share her technique in making her rings.
Fused dichroic glass pendants and rings will be available for purchase after the demonstration has concluded.
Join us as we share our methods and have some fun creating new jewelry!
